NIJMEGEN – A strategic collaboration between Radboudumc and Ivy Medical has resulted in a portable infusion pump for more mobile patients. In the Netherlands, over two million treatments are administered via infusion annually. Patients are often assigned an infusion pump on a mobile stand for this purpose.
According to Radboudumc, these infusion poles are heavy, cumbersome, and hinder the mobility of patients, which is important for their recovery. The start-up Ivy Medical has developed a pump system that makes it possible to make an infusion treatment completely portable. Because patient mobility is a focus, Radboudumc invited the company two years ago to further develop this concept in the practical environment of a hospital.
